Efforts are being made to help protect two important local cold-water fisheries, the West Branch of the Tully River in North Orange and the Falls River at Bascom Hollow Farm on the Gill and Greenfield town line. As part of that effort Mount Grace is facilitating a stream health study in each location. To assess stream health the biological and chemical data need to be collected at strategic times of the year; winter, spring and fall. We are involving local schools and community groups to aid in the collection of this information. The collected data will be continually compiled and analyzed to monitor the health of the stream and help gauge the need for stewardship along the stream over time.
As part of this project we try our best to accommodate the needs of the school or youth group for timing and curriculum associated with the content the teacher wants to cover in conjunction to the field day or guest speaker day.
